Diagnostic Test Recommendations

​At Xcel Advisors & Tutors, we strongly believe in establishing a baseline. It is often the case that a diagnostic helps students (and parents) set expectations and goals, and we at Xcel Advisors & Tutors have seen how this kind of clarity in starting points can help set the tone of an entire program. Since diagnostics are so fundamental, we have assembled a list, with links.

SAT Test

Register on the College Board website, and take test 4 in Blue Book (you may have to create an account with the College Board).

LSAT Test

​The June 2007 LSAT, now repurposed as PrepTest 123, has been the most commonly recommended diagnostic and is available with a paid Lawhub subscription. There are currently 4 full-length LSAT tests available for free on LawHub, but they are in the more difficult range of LSAT tests, and so your experience could be unnecessarily discouraging. GRE Test

From the official ETS website: POWERPREP PLUS® Online - Practice Test 2.

ACT Test

The test on the ACT website for the current, enhanced version, is somewhat challenging to navigate. If you choose to take it, be sure to take a screenshot of your results. Typically, we recommend printing the test in the prepguide.

From the official site, we recommend taking one of the free practice tests, which is adaptive and scaled in the same way as official GMAT tests:
